WHAT IS HICKAPEDIA?

Hickapedia has been a long-coming project that started years ago during a conversation with my wife. I had just said something in my native Appalachian dialect when she got a funny look on her face and exclaimed, "what does that even mean?!" Being of rural mind and heritage, I promptly told her she needed to go to “Hickapedia” and look it up! We both laughed and I immediately went online to see if the site was available. Within minutes Hickapedia.com was ours! Even though we had the domain, back in those days we didn’t have the funds to make it into the glorious cultural hub that it was destined to be. Years went by till finally I said, "Hickapedia needs to happen!" I sold my motorcycle and used the proceeds to fund the creation of this site. I hope you enjoy it! Hickapedia is designed to be an entertainment service, providing On-line journals, namely, blogs featuring rural American culture, comedy, language, sports, history, and current events via the Internet; providing an on-line publication in the nature of an interactive encyclopedia featuring rural American culture, comedy, language, sports, history, and current events via the Internet; and providing an on-line publication in the nature of a blog and encyclopedia comprised of media and viewer generated content featuring rural American culture, comedy, language, sports, history, and current events via the Internet.
